📢 On September 30, 2026, a briefing was held at the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan dedicated to the implementation of digital technologies in the migration sphere, the development of international cooperation, and the launch of electronic visa (e-Visa) and online registration systems for foreign citizens.
The event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Consuls of Turkmenistan abroad, representatives of public organizations, and mass media.
💻 Digitalization of Migration Services: e-Visa and Electronic Document Management
The central theme of the briefing was the introduction of advanced digital solutions into the country's migration system. In accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan "On Migration", the system for processing and issuing electronic visas (e-Visa) for foreign citizens and stateless persons was presented to the participants.
In parallel, work is underway to modernize rules and procedures related to:
- 📍 registering foreign citizens and stateless persons at their place of stay;
- ⏳ extending the duration of stay in the country;
- 📤 deregistering from migration records.
🌐 Online Registration Without Visiting Offices
One of the key announcements was the launch of a specialized "Online Registration System" (Onlaýn hasaba alyş ulgamy). Now foreign citizens staying in Turkmenistan, as well as their hosting individuals and legal entities, can complete the registration procedure online, without the need for an in-person visit to the State Migration Service offices.
The implementation of these digital services will:
- ⏱️ Save time for foreign guests and the host party.
- 📄 Digitize documents, significantly simplifying the registration procedure.
- ⚡ Shorten application processing times and increase the overall efficiency of the migration authority in accordance with modern standards.
🤝 Eradication of Statelessness and International Cooperation
During the briefing, Turkmenistan's achievements in the field of humanitarian law were also noted. In particular, the successful completion of the UN global campaign "#IBelong" was highlighted, thanks to which the problem of statelessness was completely eradicated in the country.
Turkmenistan continues active and fruitful cooperation with major international bodies, including the United Nations (UN), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
At the conclusion of the meeting, presentation videos were shown to the participants, followed by an exchange of views and answers to relevant questions from the audience.
